6-week online workshop
A mythical journey back to ourselves
Many of us feel a pressing need to embrace our originality and bring it into the world. But how do we do that in a world rich in information but lacking the profound symbolism to guide us back to it?
This cycle centers on the myth of Demeter-Persephone. We'll be introduced to powerful, forgotten feminine archetypes, such as the ever-renewable virginity our souls crave: the feeling that we don't belong to a partner, a role, or an institution, but first and foremost to ourselves. We'll learn to understand the myth through the eyes of these forgotten archetypes and explore what has been repressed in our own psyche (shadow work) and how we can rediscover and integrate these aspects. You'll be supported in this process by live storytelling and working with the rich symbolism found in art and our dreams.
The Virgo archetype once represented our own originality as human beings. It was that part of us that wasn't related to a partner, a role, or an institution, but first and foremost to ourselves. Over time, this image has become increasingly repressed and relegated to our unconscious. In women, this part has been overshadowed by the mother archetype and by a culture in which dominant masculine values are more strongly represented.
While in the global chaos we often only further dissociate from our inner core, we simultaneously see a great longing to rediscover this part. We are constantly confronted with images that are no longer rich in symbols (think of AI) that can shed light on this path, and therefore we can feel quite lost and alone when we begin to long for this part.
The myth of Demeter Persephone shows us the dance of the female psyche on the path to integration of her deepest, original self. In a world where we think in linear lines and paths, this myth shows us how the process of integrating our soul is a cyclical movement, where we sometimes move toward and sometimes away from it. Moreover, it is not a path of self-purification, but, as Jungian analyst Safron Rossi says, "we find our way back precisely through the challenges that drove us away from it."
The myth aims to show us how we can be connected to our deepest core, while simultaneously being receptive to and connected with the realities of everyday life.
